Bad Performance (PPD) of GTX1080 GPU

Post by ChristophMolls »

Hi all!
As far as I have read the Geforce GTX1080 should run at at least 800k PPD or up to 1.3M .
However mine is doing right now 91296 PPD which is roughly 10% of what it should be able do...

It is working on Projekt 11750 right now.

In Task-Manager the copmute_0 says 0%
CUDA is at 98%
and 3D at ~5%

How can I start trouble-shooting?

Here a screenshot of GPU-Z sensor readings:

And General Graphics information from GPU-Z:

Thanks a lot!

After you have turned in 10 work units you will start getting the quick return bonus which will increase the number of points you get for each work unit. If you are new to the project & have just started folding, that probably accounts for the difference you're seeing.

Absolutely correct. Total newbie :)

So in summary it is working correctly and I just have to wait for additional work-units to be finished, right?

think you need to register your email and get a passkey. That's what gave me a ~ 7x boost in my PPD.

wow! That did the trick. I got a passkey and added it to the settings and viola -> 815343PPD! (~9x increase!)

Thanks a lot!

I forgot that the QRB was tied to the passkey. Glad to hear that you were able to get one so quickly. The passkey system had been running behind due to the large number of new users, I guess they got caught up.

The client will report the credit estimates as getting the bonus but the first 10 units after adding the passkey will still be normal points. With the sometimes large wait times just to get a unit this could take a day or 3.
