Folding@Home Update

Post by KaiChong_Wong »

Hello there,

May I know that if there's a new Folding@Home client update, will it automatically reach our application and prompt us? Or do we need to check back on your website to know that a new client has been provided?

Hope to hear from you and best regards,
Kai Chong

No new client recently, and not likely in the near future (a new client risks breaking things, not good while COVID-19 is being attacked).
A new client is most likely announced here, but will go through progressive releases amongst increasing groups of testers first.

The FAHClient will not update automatically. It potentially changes the GUI and options might be added/removed. Client bugs are fixed and some options may be added but it's rare that by failing to update you won't be able to fold. In fact, most previous releases of the Client are still in use and we attempt to insure that we don't break them with changes to the servers.

The FAHCore does the science work and it is updated automatically if needed.
