Can't Interact with UI Unless I First Click on the Title Bar

Post by floatingsunfish »

Whenever I try to interact with the UI like clicking on a button or dragging an area to resize it, I always need to first click on the window's Title Bar to "set focus to the window" even though I never clicked on anything outside it.

This also applies to nested windows such as the Configure and Folding Slot windows.

I seem to be the only one encountering this problem as I haven't seen anyone else post about it.

Could it be something with my machine, or is there a setting that I need to configure?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, but it didn't help.

EDIT 1: Below are my specs from the System Info tab:

CPU: Intel (R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz
CPU ID: GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 158 Stepping 13

EDIT 2: I have 2 GPUs:

The first one is the onboard GPU, an Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630. Up-to-date via Intel Driver & Support Assistant.

The second one is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, up-to-date via GeForce Experience. It's currently set to GeForce Game Ready Driver (Version 442.59).

Are you on Windows? I think we need a bit more information about your setup here.
F@h is now the top computing platform on the planet and nothing unites people like a dedicated fight against a common enemy. This virus affects all of us. Lets end it together.

I haven't seen that happen before, sounds like a weird windows graphics thing. What version of Windows do you have? What are your machine specs? Everything up to date? (Windows updates, GPU drivers, etc?)

@Paragon Updated my post to include my machine specs from F@h's System Info tab.

Yup, everything is up to date and F@h is the only app on my machine that's giving me this issue.

Nothing too serious, just a bit inconvenient. ^^;

Ok, is your monitor cable plugged into the graphics card output or the onboard motherboard output? Sometimes windows acts funny when a discrete GPU is installed but the onboard CPU graphics are enabled and functioning as the primary display

I have 2 monitors. My primary monitor is plugged into my NVIDIA GPU via HDMI and the other is plugged into my Intel GPU (onboard) via cable.

I wanted to plug both into my NVIDIA GPU but my second monitor is a bit outdated and the GPU doesn't have enough ports for older cables.

I assume with my setup that the Intel GPU shouldn't be causing problems because it's on a secondary monitor.

I *have* encountered scenarios where an app that required a higher GPU only displayed properly on my primary monitor, and an app that needed an older GPU only displayed properly on my second monitor.
This is the first issue that I encountered related to functionality however, which makes me think that it's not a GPU issue.
I did try using F@h on my second monitor but the issue was still there.

This has me stumped. Could always try uninstalling, rebooting, and re-installing without the secondary monitor and with the integrated graphics disabled to see if there is a weird conflict. Then again, it's pretty minor, as far as things go. Almost sounds like a windows settings thing, but then all the other app windows should behave the same way...

Yeah, I'll try using F@h without my second monitor and see if that resolves anything when I get the time.

Will update once I get results. Thanks!

@Paragon I assume I disable my onboard GPU on the BIOS settings. Is this correct?

FAH cannot use the Intel GPU but expects to find a discrete GPU from either nVidia or AMD.

Many modern laptops come with something called Optimus which is an Intel GPU and an nVidia or AMD GPU on the same chip. If that's what you have, it's going to be a challenge to run FAH because the BIOS will switch between the GPU pair depending on how busy the GPU is (saving power). FAH doesn't like it if the nV/AMD GPU is suddenly disabled and the Intel GPU is switched on. >>> Crash.

@bruce No worries, I'm using a PC that has separate GPUs for Intel and NVIDIA. :)
