In all honesty, I would not have allowed potentially 6000 GPU's to hit the project until I had ensured I would have enough work for them or demand that they also donate dedicated servers just for their GPU.
I'm sure If we ask REALLY NICELY (emphasis on the nice) A company could add a server or two.
Well it seems Coronavirus work units are being gobbled up faster than they can be made.
Just joined.. How will this help exactly? Ie do they look for promising avenues for further investigation and will this help with vaccine or medication development.

You need to either change the item you are monitoring in Task Manager, or use a tool that reports more directly on how a GPU is being utilized. One such tool is GPU-Z.

Yes, pretty much, FAH does what is called primary research that is then available to all for further use and development

Edited again: and after the 9pm update, it's up to 24601, adding another 2000. So in 12 hours we picked up about 6500 folders (up over 33%!), an amount almost equal to the total number of folders we had at the beginning of February.
That is an unprecedented growth. The userbase always grows in the wintertime, and it's still cold outside in much of the US and Europe, but now so many people are stuck inside and there's laser-focus interest in the virology research.
F@h is now the top computing platform on the planet and nothing unites people like a dedicated fight against a common enemy. This virus affects all of us. Lets end it together.

Checked the regular site; have all previous partners been shown with logos in the footer below before?
...Even if that was the case, partners in the footer, not listed on the https://foldingathome.org/about/partners/ site now include: EVGA, AMD, Business & Emotions, Massive Entertainment and fnts.. Are these new? Anyone heard/seen anything? I've just seen hints that there were new partners involved in infrastructure, but this seems a bit more diverse

That's a common problem at the moment due to the high demand. They are working quickly to get new servers online and more work in the queue. I'd recommend just leaving everything running and it will pick up work as soon as its available.
