Website doesn't let me download FAH?

I just recently saw the announcement that SETI@HOME made stating that they would no longer be sending out work. So I thought it would be a good time to get into folding@home! I went to the website and tried to download, but the download page didn't have any download links???



Then I tried the alternative downloads, still no download links...



Then finally, at some point I found a link to download.foldingathome . org which gave me this weird file!



Finally, I saw the download link... but it's the exact opposite of user friendly, and I feel like none of this should be happening. Is something wrong with the website?

Welcome to the folding support forum.

The screen shots you provided are not how the web page looks normally. I checked from my laptop running OS X and using the Safari browser and it looks fine for me at this time. I was able to download the OS X, Windows and Linux versions of the client just fine.

There was another report of the same problem, the only commonality I see so far is that both of you were connecting from Windows systems. Not sure what might be causing this.

Why not provide simple links to a file instead of trying to detect systems, browsers, and OS'es. Because overcomplicating things with a detection routine doesn't appear to be working. Things on the web are complicated and bloated enough as it is.

I checked the site using Firefox on Windows, Firefox on Mac OS X, and Safari on Mac OS X, and saw the same thing as ipquarx on all three. So it isn't just a Windows thing. Turning off my script blocker in Firefox didn't make a difference; Safari doesn't have one installed.

As for simple links to files, that's what the Alternative page is.

I had a thought, and I can recreate the problem with both types of downloads by disabling Javascript. So it looks like the download page and the alternate download page requires that to be enabled.

Javascript is enabled. Still nothing.

Looks good. I had to clear the browser cache on Safari, but once I did that it was back to normal.
