Not Getting desired points from Project 14180 WUs

After starting to fold again recently, I realised that, when completing Project 14180 WUs (the only project I am assigned without the "max-packet-size: small" flag) my estimated credit is always equal to base credit whereas smaller work units yield a significant QRB.

I can rarely get work units when setting the flag as mentioned before and so I have to work on larger WUs.

There are other issues related to the updated servers and QRB followed in some other topics, they go back about 2 months to when the updates started.

In any case, checking your stats the last two 14180 WU's you turned in both received QRB points.

Oh, nice. The discrepancy threw me off - I'd have thought that, should QRB be working for a particular server, that the client would be able to calculate it indiscriminately across the board but I guess not. Thanks for the clarification.

On about 1/2 of my farm, I have stopped getting any bonus points. I have checked GPU temps, GPU temps, GPU load, current date/time which in the past were all issues at one time or another, but I can not figure out why many of them are now not getting bonus point. These are 2080TI cards (EVGA brand) that should be producing 1.5-2 million PPD, but they are running base credit at about 100k ppd.

One specific example:
Linux mint host, been up and running for years 24/7
CPU temps 61c load 98% total (also running CPU BOINC)

GPU load 95%
GPU temps 68c

Driver 430 version

Unit specifics:
14185 (37,10,11)
Time per frame 34 seconds

What is going on ??

User: Mark_F_Williams, currently 22nd place in individual users. I have been doing this for 15 years, and am stumped.

Edit: folding calculator says 1,461,511 ppd. F@H screen (Fahcontrol) says 102,841, and no bonus points.. Time on the computer in question is 8/27/2019 11:17 am PST, and yes, it had the passkey loaded months ago.

Yes as per above, as they update software on the servers, some WUs are not getting QRB. That has nothing to do with you or your client software. (or hardware)

Once all the servers are back on the same version of software, we should all start getting QRB again. Later, someone will award past QRBs to accounts that missed them.

As with anything on F@H, there is no timeline for either event. Just a promise it will happen someday.

Is it possible for the same project to have varying completion times or TPF?



I ask because I have noticed a drop in points over the last 2 to 3 days, not because the QRB isn't being applied (it is), but rather the time my rig is taking to turn in and complete these particular WU's has slowed from 16-18 to maybe 12-13 in the same period, with no changes made to the system.

This seems to be affecting the projects coming from 155.247.166.220. The stuff coming out of 128.252.203.4 doesn't have this issue.

To give you a good answer, I need to see the system configuration found at the top of FAH's log.

Are they running on 4 identical GPUs? ... in identical slots .... and how many CPUs are available to supply data to them. What else is running on your system?

ETAs and TPF are estimates based on recent history.

This is what I have for you. The cards are identical all running in x8 mode with plenty of CPU to feed them. I have no other programs open on the desktop.

One thing I did come across while skimming over my log was a couple of faulty project errors for 14180 and 13815.

clEnqueueReadBuffer (-5) indicates that the GPU in question cannot handle the data being fed to it. Perhaps you are overclocking too much ... perhaps your PCIe subsystem is incapable of servicing the device promptly enough. Perhaps something is overheating. The fact that WU04 was able to complete 19%+ of the WU without error means it's not something that can be blamed on software or fixed by tweaking the software.

You are gettomg the QRB bonus, so this title is wrong -- you said so yourself -- so I'm going to change the title. Remove some overclock or physically run fewer GPUs on that system.

Appreciate the explanation of the error, but it becomes incredibly difficult to put the finger on the issue when the issues you describe are simply not applicable.

The cards are not overheating as they are all running at well under 60C and I do not see anything else overheating on the system either.

The cards are not overclocked besides the "GPU boost" done by the cards themselves, and even that is capped by the voltage which is set at default along with the power target. The only manual intervention I have done was actually to LOWER the boost on the other three cards to match the frequency of the slowest of the four

All three cards run at x8 except for the card in the primary slot which is hard wired for x16. That cannot be changed.

Just to do a sanity check I have scrubbed through the last 48 hours of my log and have not seen any errors in that time. Again, these work units are taking longer to complete resulting in less points, and only affect WU coming from 155.247.166.220 that all show the wrong Estimated Credit in FAHControl.
