Radeon HD 7570 stuck at "ready"

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Radeon HD 7570 stuck at "ready"

GPU detects as: Turks [Radeon HD 7570/8550]

This DOES show up in the whitelist as far as I can tell. I definitely have the newest drivers installed, I installed the beta catalyst client and it says I have the newest.

It also mentions "OpenCL device matching slot 1 not found, try setting 'opencl-index' manually" which I did try, and once got a "FAILED" message instead of a "READY" message.

What else should I try?

The Turks series of GPUs apparently does not support Double Precision math. At one time tht was not required but all recent projects now require that feature. Unless you can find information saying it does, I will have the GPU reclassified as "not supported" since the older projects have been completed or at least are very rare.

Also, it appears that you do not have OpenCL installed. I'm not sure it's worth going through the process tof downloading and installing it, just to find that your device cannot be supported.

Thank you for reclassifying... hopefully it'll help someone else not waste the money.

I don't see a way to install OpenCL for AMD cards, but I guess you're right, it's not worth it if the card is not supported. That's a shame because I spent a few bucks on a card and cable to try and make my old Dell Optiplex 7010 a little better dedicated Folding@Home box.

It's a little board that only allows "low profile" PCIe cards. Is there another one that would work that DOES have floating point support?

Dell says the NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 will work on the board. I can't easily see if that supports Double Precision math.

I've used a GT710 which I think is very similar to the GT 640 LP and it works ... slow though it may be. ;)

The best way to install OpenCL is to go to http://www.khronos.org and download their developer package. It installs more than you need, but some of the other sources which install fewer components work and some do not.

I can say that I use a Nvidia GTX1050TI in a low profile case, it is a double wide card.

PowerColor, Sapphire and VTX3D all released a Radeon HD 7750 that was LP. They will be your cheapest from that generation that support double precision.

Most, if not all, current GPU projects are requiring mixed precision calculations on the GPU. The Turks based cards do not support double precision so will only get an assignment if WU's for a GPU project that does not require double is available.
