OpenCL conflicts ... F@H 7.5.1 doesn't start!
I have a GTX 1070 and F@H simply doesn't start. I used to fold a long time ago, but recently I upgraded my overclocks and cleaned up my system, so I wanted to check how my PPD is doing.
F@H simply doesn't start. When I double click the .exe, it opens in Task Manager, but the web client doesn't load and the advanced control panel doesn't show up on the tray. What am I doing wrong?
I know that F@H requires OpenCL, and upon opening GPU-Z, it doesn't say I have OpenCL installed. What gives? Has Nvidia stopped supplying OpenCL with their drivers? I just did a clean install of all Nvidia drivers and it still doesn't install OpenCL.
Help!

Basic information like if you are on Windows, MacOS or Linux will help give you advice. I am assuming 64 bit Windows 10.
Step One) got to NVIDIA's website and download the latest driver https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverR ... 5872/en-us If all you use your graphics card for is F@H, all you need is the video driver, the other software is not needed, but won't hurt.
Once the driver is installed, Step 2) Uninstall F@H including data, then re-install it using ALL the default settings. (since you deleted data, you will need to re-enter name, team, and passcode)

Yes, Windows 10 64-bit.JimboPalmer wrote:

16 GB RAM
i7-6700K overclocked
I already clean installed the Nvidia drivers, as mentioned in my OP. I've actually reinstalled them like 3 times now, but OpenCL refuses to be enabled (according to GPU-Z).
I also already tried clean installing F@H about 10 times now. Help!JimboPalmer wrote: Step 2) Uninstall F@H including data, then re-install it using ALL the default settings.

Re: F@H 7.5.1 doesn't start!
That line indicates that your graphics drivers installation is not complete.02:05:32: OpenCL: Not detected
A complete istall would include OpenCL.
In which way did you install drivers? Via NVidia Experience?

No.
1) www.geforce.com/drivers ---> fill out my info (GTX 1070 and W10 64-bit) ---> https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/145872
2) Download and run "425.31-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe" ---> Custom (Advanced) install
3) Uncheck the GeForce Experience crap, and check "Perform a clean installation" box.
And yes, I've restarted my computer like 50 times now.

Re: F@H 7.5.1 doesn't start!
GPU-Z does not believe it has OpenCL, F@H does not believe it has OpenCL.
It would have OpenCL if the Nvidia installer recognized the card.
Can you post the GPU-Z data, so we can see what it thinks the card is?

Maybe Windows 10 does not like the "Clean install" option. Try it without "clean". Check GPU-Z again. Which Windows 10 subversion 1803?3) Uncheck the GeForce Experience crap, and check "Perform a clean installation" box.
Re: F@H 7.5.1 doesn't start!
Try getting your driver from http://www.nvidia.com/drivers not geforce.com.
fyi I'm using win 10 1809 and nvidia driver 418.91 which can be found by clicking "Beta & older drivers"
Also, have a look at the following link to see if anything there might explain your missing opencl:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... eworks-wdf

Re: F@H 7.5.1 doesn't start!
I already tried that. It was the first thing I tried. I'm running W10 1809.foldy wrote: Maybe Windows 10 does not like the "Clean install" option. Try it without "clean". Check GPU-Z again. Which Windows 10 subversion 1803?
They're the same drivers... just different pages. And yes, I originally got my download from nvidia.com, not geforce.com. I only used geforce.com in my reply to the other guy because it was easier to type out.bollix47 wrote:Try getting your driver from http://www.nvidia.com/drivers not geforce.com.
I'm not going to downgrade my drivers just for F@H.bollix47 wrote: fyi I'm using win 10 1809 and nvidia driver 418.91 which can be found by clicking "Beta & older drivers"

CTRL + F and "OpenCL" yields no results.
Re: F@H 7.5.1 doesn't start!
You seem to be looking at documentation for Microsoft drivers, not NVidia drivers. Downloading/installing the drivers from Microsoft will UNINSTALL OpenCL. I notice that GPU-Z indicates that you have PhysX installed. I always remove that when I turn off GeForce Experience.

Ok, but I'm not using GeForce Experience anyway. Any more ideas?bruce wrote:You seem to be looking at documentation for Microsoft drivers, not NVidia drivers. Re: F@H 7.5.1 doesn't start!
Lets check the version number of the OpenCL dlls in
C:\Windows\System32
There should be OpenCL.dll right click => context menu => Properties => Details
What is the file version?
Same for nvopencl64.dll
And registry values is anything there?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenCL\Vendors
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Again same thing for 32bit as the FAHclient is 32bit and the FAHcore is 64bit
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
OpenCL.dll
nvopencl32.dll
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Khronos\OpenCL\Vendors
C:\Windows\System32

I don't have that file in my System32 folder.foldy wrote: Same for nvopencl64.dll
