Failed Slot with a new RTX 2070

Hello All, looking for a little help here. I just put a GPU into a rig that did not have one previously. I uninstalled FAH, and re-installed after the hardware install GPU driver is up to date. The slot fails almost as fast as I can get advanced control open. The log reports a bunch of bad work units. Log below up to the point the CPU slot finished its first %. Any ideas on what I need to do to get this thing working, it should not be a firewall or network setting... the rig has been happy CPU folding since I built it.

Looking at the first WU:

it shows it failred on 3 systems and then was successfully completed on a fourth.

Many of he other WUs listesd in your log have not yet been returned by the next assignee. That's probably because they're still working on it and may successfully complete it soon.

If your GPU is overclocked, set back to the nominal speeds and see if that helps. Also, check that your power supply can provide adequate 12V power.

You should be fine using the one power cable for both pins. The 2070 should be about 250W so less 75W from the PCIe slot it will draw a max of 175W from the 6 + 8 pins so about 14.6A at 12V but spread over 3 to 4 wires only say 5A max. The cables are usually 18AWG and so should be able to handle it. Worst case see if you can find a Molex to 6-pin adapter that you get with some cards.

Bad WU usually means overclocked. But it can also be an indication that the GPU is running hot.

Check the GPU temps and if it’s hot try running with the side off the case.

If your 8600K is overclocked you might want to try turning that back to stock.

There’s and option for a clean install with the NVidia drivers that can get rid of old “crust” hanging about. Deselecting NVidia experience can also help as that just reports back to NVidia and auto updates drivers. I’m running 4.10.75 I believe on my 2070

As Bruce said also check the temps as there have been a few bad boards released into the wild but I’ve only seen reports on the 2080Ti

OK, did a full remove of the driver, and reinstalled. Still getting bad work units. The GPU temp never got above 30C. I did notice something strange, when I open GPU-Z the OpenCL box is not checked... don't I need that for FAH? I am unsure how to troubleshoot this further other than just re-installing Win10, hopefully I will get the chance to do that on Thursday. Open to other ideas:)
