Failed to register to forum cause of captcha

Post by foldy »

Another user tried to register to forum and failed because of the captcha requirement.
I also tried with a new account and also failed.

What is this animal called? captcha22.jpg

I answer: dolphin
=> Wrong

Is there some issue with that or what are we doing wrong?

Damn that's it! Thanks. Could it not also accept "dolphin"? It should prevent bots from register not humans.

Edit:
After animal captcha right answer:
"You have exceeded the maximum number of registration attempts for this session. Please try again later."

Maximum number of registration attempts should be 10 not 2.

Just a note for the future, people having trouble with registration typically email admin@foldingforum.org. I monitor that account and can resolve issues with the captcha questions.

When attempting to register, is there a suggestion to email the admin to resolve issues? I had supposed that to be so since I get fairly regular questions via that account.

My apologies for the issues. I usually have to switch captcha questions/answers due to a huge increase in spammer accounts. While I try to allow all likely responses, there is always the chance I'll overlook one in my haste.

There is a permanent link at the bottom right to "Contact the Administrators" but no specific suggestion to contact admins on register errors. So maybe a more explicit hint like "If you have any problems or questions please contact admins by email" could help people. Thank you for keeping the forum spam-free.
