real name in the certificate
Hi, although the projects are entirely performed for non-profitable purposes and only to help the science would be nice to include in the certificate (which is only used for personal gratification) their real name, since the username is not possible to insert white space.
How come then you cannot insert blank spaces?
How do I put my real name?
I appreciate so much this project anyway.
Thank you

Welcome to foldingforum.org, oscarandrea.
The closest FAH can come to your real name is Oscar_Andrea which looks almost right.

Re: real name in the certificate
Usernames should contain just contain letters and numbers, the only special character used should be the underscore. This is from the FAQ on choosing a username - http://folding.stanford.edu/home/faq/#ntoc31. Those are the only characters completely supported. Usernames containing other characters work most of the time for folding, but do not always work in the various scripts connected with stats and other functions on the folding website.

Re: real name in the certificate
As it stands, 'user name' is just an arbitrary string. Most people don't use their name and many people may choose the same name, but fold for different teams. There are then those people who fold under multiple user names.
It could conceivably be an improvement to the system where there is more of a registration process, where a user name (and passkey) is tied to a real person. Indeed, an individual could have more than one name / passkey combinations and see all points credited to themselves. However, after 10 plus years of the current system, I don't expect to see changes any time soon.

Re: real name in the certificate
okay thanks for answers, I hope that in the future will implement this change
Re: real name in the certificate
The name has never been associated with a real person. (Common names like "john" are used by many different people, even if more than one of them are on the same team.) The passkey was introduced in order to remedy this situation and as far as I can tell, a passkey represents a unique person. This is one reason why FAH strongly recommends that you do not reveal your passkey to anyone.

I suspect F@H avoids various privacy laws by never knowing your real name. And the less they know about you, the less hacker can get from them in a breach.

I inserted the key in folding ...
at least for the certificate, in my view it was right to make sure that using key you can enter the real name on the certificate

That you would have to convince PG as being a feature not just you but others would like to see added to the folding site in connection to the reports on points earned. Then it would be competing for the limited programming resources available to get implemented. Best place currently to make such a proposal is on the official reddit, https://www.reddit.com/r/foldingathome/.oscarandrea wrote:I inserted the key in folding ...
