Lost Advanced Control

[Static Stripes]

I recently acquired a GPU from a friend for a weekend and ran it in tandem with my other GPU and added it to the FAH Advanced client. Worked great did twice the work. Next week, returned GPU to friend and returned home.
Bad idea.
FAH lost the other GPU and lost it's mind over it, web and advanced control locked up. So, I reinstalled.

Now we run into the problem, I choose the option to install the advanced client & the install works, yet can't get it to fire up or appear in the tray.
Help please?

I'm not sure I understand. (Maybe it's just too early in the morning.)

A second GPU was added successfully and later it was removed. Presumably you didn't make any changes to config.xml, other than the ones FAH made automatically. Then you reinstalled FAH

Are you talking about Linux or Windows? Your wording seems to discuss both. Which options did you choose during the install?

Did you have a functional GPU before you started? What type?

It would be helpful if you include at least the first several pages of the log per the instructions below.

Yeah sorry it was really late at night for me.

I'm on windows 10 Pro 64-bit 1607.

I was running a single Geforce 970 and added a second 970. I had to go in and configure the second slot because F@H didn't recognize it automatically. Fast forward a week and I took the 2nd out, but didn't remove the folding slot beforehand. Next time I booted up and launched F@H the advanced control would freeze up completely while it waited on the 2nd GPU to respond. This in turn would lock up the web control because it would wait infinitely for advanced control to respond.

This is where I went in and uninstalled the program.

I then went to install again and chose the same options I did previously. The install completed, but when I double click on the icon on the desktop nothing pops up. Folding begins, but the little icon that appears in the tray (bottom left corner of the screen next to the clock, vol. wifi, ect.) doesn't appear and I have to put the address into the web browser manually to stop folding.

This is where I sit, no matter what I do I can't get that icon to come up and I've tried reinstalling again too.

Open Task Manager and see if there is anything work related to FAH. Give it all End Process Tree. Then again start icon on the desktop.
In the Properties on the icon, you can remove " --open-web-control". So already only use "Advanced Control ".

In File Explorer, enter "%APPDATA%" (with the percents and without the quotes). Do you see a directory called FAHClient?
If not, reinstall FAH leaving the default "Just for me" set.
If so, open it.

Do you see FAHClient? If so, right-click it and choose SendTo + Desktop. (That should allow you to use FAHClient until we figure out about the missing icon in systray.)

Do you see log (or log.txt)? If so, open it and paste the first couple of pages into your next reply.

Alright, no FAH in the APPDATA folder so reinstalled.
Started it and got it to pop up once. It started rolling (nothing in the systray still) and I paused it and closed the window. I double clicked the icon and now it doesn't respond again. The file is in the APPDATA folder now.

It does look like it was working ... before you paused and unpaused. Four seconds isn't enough time for FAH's processes to shut down before they can be restarted. (There really should be a "Please wait" message.)

That config is unusually brief. I'd expect a few other settings. (Apparently you didn't see the installation questions asking you to set your username/team/passkey but you fixed that.)

Pause. Wait 20 seconds. Unpause. See if your GPU slot starts folding, too.

I cut it off because it went on for a while and it looked like the bulk of was there. I'm running Windows 10 Pro. I'm kinda just back where I started, it's still no in the systray and I have to put the url in chrome to have any control over it.

Any other ideas?

I often faced the disappearance of Advanced Control due to missing FahClient icon in systray. I met few other applications which icons dissapear in this area. Form winXP to win 8.1.
Just run "C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient\FAHControl.exe", right-click on its icon on taskbar then choose Pin to taskbar. One thing-you may not like the font in Advanced Control
Or reinstall client to make the icon visible. In current installation of ver. 7.4.15 there's no such problem
