Your 8600 GT can be used for folding for a bit longer, but the folding projects that can use it are approaching end of life. Even older projects that used Core_11 and could be processed on this generation of video card ran out last August.
Some, but not all older pre-Fermi cards from nVidia, can process WU's using Core_15. To indicate you want to try processing these, two options will need to be added to your GPU folding slot. First is the option max-packet-size set to small, and the other is the option client-type set to beta. That should result in your system getting assignments from the remaining 8 projects that use Core_15.

Hardware configuration: Intel i7-4770K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR3-2133 Corsair Vengence (black/red), EVGA GTX 760 @ 1200 MHz, on an Asus Maximus VI Hero MB (black/red), in a blacked out Antec P280 Tower, with a Xigmatek Night Hawk (black) HSF, Seasonic 760w Platinum (black case, sleeves, wires), 4 SilenX 120mm Case fans with silicon fan gaskets and silicon mounts (all black), a 512GB Samsung SSD (black), and a 2TB Black Western Digital HD (silver/black).
Also, be aware that these projects are already taking 1.5 days to fold on a powerful GPU of these days (9800 GTX+), so you must take into account that it will take ages to fold on a low end GPU like 8600 GT used to be.
You also need to take into account that core 15 projects compatibility is often worse while you go down in product range.
So you'll have to watch carefully how your GPU slot behaves while testing if you opt in for it. And if you see a high failure rate on this slot, you'll have to stop folding on it and consider an upgrade.

Similar problem to leechunszen, only I'm running two NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT's (SLI disabled, PhysX processor set to Auto-select), drivers 341.81 (latest for these cards) on an ASUS P6X58D Prem mobo, Intel Core i7 920 running stock 2.67GHz, 18GB RAM, O/S Win 7 Pro. F@H client is 7.4.4. CPU folds fine, but haven't had good fortune for folding with the GPU in well over a year. The O/S was just reloaded with a clean install a month ago, so everything should be fresh. Confirmed that the GPUs.txt was in the C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient directory, it's not 0K in file size, and does include GeForce 9800 GT in the list. Could use some good troubleshooting tips.

I have moved your post to a related one. Your problem is not related to leechunszen's, your GPU's are too old to be used for current projects. Se my post above on how to set up the client to get older projects assigned to your GPU's.

I'm using the exact same cards in a couple systems, though I changed the beta flag to advanced instead. I was actually pulling some beta projects with those settings that the cards couldn't actually complete (9205 I think).
You shouldn't have been as long as the max-packet-size was set. If you can find an example in one of your log files, please post it. An AS or WS setting might be off somewhere.

You're right, that's not all of the log, but I think there's enough to be able to tell what happened.
At the beginning of the log that you posted, Project 9205 had already been assigned. That WU was much too complex for your GPU and it was aborted.
It was probably assigned when you had the beta setting but NOT the small setting but that part of the log was not posted so I can only guess.
What IS shown is that changed the configuration to the correct settings: [max-packet-size of small [U}together with[/u] the client-type of beta] Project 8018 was assigned using FahCore_15, which your GPU can handle. This is exactly what should happen.
I grabbed that in the middle of changing the beta flag to advanced. It was previously set up as client-type='beta' and max-packet-size ='small'. That wu had stopped that gpu slot from folding for several days because of a high number of failures. I can't remote to that machine, but I'll grab the full log later today.
