how to use GPU and CPU together??
i can run GPU alone..
I can run CPU alone..
i want them both together. how do i do that??
When i selected GPU. Cpu was stopped. and vice versa..
How can i make them both fold??

The standard installation will configure itself for both GPU and CPU processing provided you have hardware that supports it.

yep, and as i told you.
I managed to fold on my Videocard alone. and also on cpu alone..
if they work each of them while alone. why not together?

Snow wollf we know no more now than when you first posted, you have to show us what you are doing in the log before we can advise you on what part of it is wrong.

Re: how to use GPU and CPU together??
What CPU do you have ? Can you share the config (first 100 lines of log file, around) ? (Oops, already asked
) Each GPU need also one Core or HT. if your CPU is at the lower range (like dual core) this could cause that you don't have CPU slot working.
Also: they would not work "together", each slot (CPU and GPU) would get their own work unit.

Re: how to use GPU and CPU together??
I have the same problem sort of, except my CPU dont work at all.
Both GPUs are cracking on the their tasks but CPU is just "ready"
I have two GTX780 M in SLI and one i-7 4970K 6-core at 3.4 GHz
Would wish the CPU would work.
Also, how much strain does folding give my components, this laptop was kinda expensive and I really really need it to last as long as possible.
Don't wanna spend that kind of money on a computer ever again.

That made me chuckle. Folding will push your hardware to it's limits. And sometimes beyond. I've killed 3 GPU's over the years, and 1 motherboard.propm wrote:

IIRC FAH does not support SLI.propm wrote:I have the same problem sort of, except my CPU dont work at all.

Re: how to use GPU and CPU together??
That is correct. But it doesn't matter if SLI is enabled or not, FAH will just ignore it. Same with Xfireartoar_11 wrote:IIRC FAH does not support SLI.propm wrote:I have the same problem sort of, except my CPU dont work at all.

Folding will use your hardware up to it's designed limits. Well designed hardware lasts long enough to be considered obsolete before folding will ever kill it, as long as it is well maintained (kept cool and clean).wilding2004 wrote:That made me chuckle. For example, I overclocked my ATI X1900XTX to the stable max for several years folding with the GPU 1 client. When that client ended, the video card was used as a monitor in a secondary PC so the main GPU could fold full speed for several more years. Now 7 years after I purchased the card it has finally died. Did FAH kill it? In part, maybe so. Do I care about losing a well used 7 year old video card? Not in the least.

Re: how to use GPU and CPU together??
While I agree with that in principle, I don't think it's entirely true. The example of the X1900 is a good one though, mine is still running in a MAME box. Sometimes hardware is released that is not particularly well designed, and is only relying on the constant upgrade cycle to hide it's shortcomings.7im wrote:Folding will use your hardware up to it's designed limits. Agreed. Typical cycles are 3-5 years for business use, with business class hardware. Obviously personal use, class, and expectations vary significantly.
