Main website crawling, no downloads seen.

Post by ebworthen »

New here but have folded here in the past.

Went to download the client on a new machine, and the main site //folding.stanford.edu/home/ loads extremely slowly, every page takes over 30 seconds to load.

I find no links to the downloads for the client, controller or viewer. All links to "Start Folding" or "Download" are a loop that simply reload the page. If I scroll down to where the download would be it says "Download for OS" and the has ( ) blank parenthesis and no downloads, just blank space.

This is true on several different computers, browsers, operating systems I've tried - Windows 7, Windows 8, Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc. - the site appears to be completely FUBAR.

Hope you all can get that fixed, thanks.

This was reported late yesterday and I understand folks are working on it. I don't have an ETA, but it's the weekend, so many of the experts are probably off today.

Thanks for the quick reply Bruce; understand the weekend delay, best.

p.s. - Hope they check security issues because it acts like a hack.

The network administrator needs physical access to the server so it won't be until tomorrow.

While no system is unhackable, I can assure you that security is always a top concern. As example, I must pass through multiple levels and types of authentication just to make simple updates to the FAQ pages.

We should know more tomorrow.

Is folding.stanford.edu still having problems? I am still unable to download replacement FAHControl and FAHClient for a rebuilt Unbuntu folding rig.

Same here, 'though I used an iMac as that's where I was sitting.

@David- have you tried a different machine? Maybe something went awry on the rebuild?
