Unable To Fold With NVIDIA GPU'S

Dear All Foldings Members and Moderators,

I am currently running 2 Nvidia Titan X GPU. But none of it is detected in the folding page as shown below but only my CPU. http://postimg.org/image/5z5l6rvht/

I have indeed Googled a lot to have this issue rectified but till today I am unable to solve it. The following are the list of things I have done to get it fixed:

1. Deleted and re-installed Folding Program Twice.
2. Did a windows search of "FAH" and delete all the files that was relevant.
3. Add also the GPUs.txt list into the FAHClient Program Files folder
4. Re-installed my NVIDIA drivers and also updated the drivers.

I have done all of the above but to no avail have I solved this issue. The following is some error I get from the the CMD Client http://postimg.org/image/ftwes7209/

My computer specifications are as follows:

1. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
2. Intel 3930K
3. 2X NVIDIA Titan X
4. Asus P9X79 Motherboard
5. Samsung SSD
6. 3x WD Hard Disk in Raid 0

I hope someone will be able to help me with this issue.

Also, which version of the drivers and where did you download them from?

I have downloaded the latest drivers from NVIDIA Website and the version is 355.60

That's not where it needs to be. It needs to be in FAH's data file.

imply that the system is updating the file. Did you restart FAH after getting this message? What's the date-time on the file in the data file?

Dear Bruce,

I have added GPUs.txt file into the Data file and restarted my computer. The GPU's still isn't detected.

You may need to use a video driver cleaner, and then reinstall the same new NV driver, especially if you upgradde an older GPU to the Titans.

Please also make sure the GPUs.txt file is not 0 bytes in size.

Your solution work. I fully deleted the NVIDIA Drivers and reinstalled them all and now all 2 GPU's are folding.

Tried to uninstall install driver so many times not working.

Welcome to the folding forum giuseppelongo87 and kylinblue.

The fah-web site where the GPUs.txt file is downloaded from is up, but responses are slow and timeout at times. The server is known to be overloaded and Dr. Pande has already posted that replacement is in progress.

In the meantime all I can suggest is retrying the download until you get a copy of the most recent GPUs.txt file and and use it to replace the empty file. You need the recent copy as your 980 ti's were just added last month. Reinstalling your video drivers will not help until you have a working copy of the most recent list.

I don't know exactly when i developed this same problem, I've been busy for the past few days with work, family, etc. and unable to check on my rig's folding status.
I had to search for a solid hour and a half to find someone with the same symptoms as my client's error.
So far I've been trying for a day and a half to manually download the GPUs.txt file, to no avail. Like Joe_H said, the server is overloaded and my browser timeouts at all hours of the day when I try.

I had a similar problem when I started. When I added a GPU, it wasn't used. I had to add a slot for it in the configure tab of the advanced client control.

I was told that a clean reinstall of the client would have noticed the added GPU. A clean uninstal is where you manually delete the FAH folders after doing a normal uninstall. I would recommend using configuration -slot setup first, due to problems downloading the client at this time from the website.

Windows, Linux, or MacOS?

First stop FAHClient. If I assume WIndows, open a text windows. and change directory to FAH's data directory. Rename GPUs.txt to something else. Then type "FAHClient" and it will start up with output directed both to the screen and to the log file. The difference being that you'll be able to see the download of GPUs.txt before the client actually starts sending output to the log file. Hopefully there will be an error message indicating why you got a 0-byte file. (Of course if a good copy of GPUs.txt is downloaded matching the one you renamed, we won't need to debug a problem which has vanished.)

If my instructions are not clear enough, please ask.
