Any work on a new client?
It looks like the current release (V7.4.4) has been out for quite a while now, and I don't see any talk of any updates. Perhaps I am not looking in the proper place. Anyway, is there anything in the works?

They are always working on something new, although not always publicly.

There have been no announcements regarding an updated client. V7.4.4 has, in fact, been around for quite a while, but it has been doing a pretty good job for almost everybody. Since that client was released, Development has done a lot of really important upgrades to other parts of FAH, though they've been changes that often go unnoticed.
