Low on Core_17 WU's?
Hi,
I have the impression we're a bit low on x17 WU's the last few days. Am I correct? I seem to keep getting x15's for 3 days in a row. And in the http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html I can't seem to find any x17 projects, but then again I don't really know how to recognize them.
I'm not complaining, just wondering if it's a coincidence for my machine, or the x17 projects are really low for the moment.

Is this on all of your machines? Which hardware, software, and settings are being used?
Please post the first few pages of your log(s).

Unfortunately the old psummary page does not list all currently available projects, as it is near deprecation. Please see the new page: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/new/psummary.html. There should be a handful of x17 projects available.CBT wrote: I have the impression we're a bit low on x17 WU's the last few days. Am I correct? I seem to keep getting x15's for 3 days in a row. On either Project Summary page:CBT wrote:...but then again I don't really know how to recognize them.
ZETA = Core_17
ZETA_DEV = Core_18
There are at least half a dozen projects listed for Core_17 at the moment.

Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
I can add my own observations to CBT's here since they might be similar. My Windows GTX 970 slot typically gets assigned a mix of x17 and x15 projects. Over the past three days, it has received nothing but x15 projects. Since this seems to be the same issue that CBT was requesting help with, I thought I would post my own experiences.CBT wrote:I have the impression we're a bit low on x17 WU's the last few days. Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
It is the same for all the 970/980s I know about. One out of ten is a 9201, the rest is from x15 projects.
Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
I can also confirm that my 3 Maxwell's (1 GTX 980 and 2 GTX 970's) have been getting almost exclusively Core15's over the last few days. I have not changed any settings.

It is not our settings that have changed, its on "your" end. Standard WIN7, default FAH setting, GTX970s in my case. Look at the forums - hardware.no could be a good start......
Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
Also, which drivers are you running?

Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
The original question was asked and answered. There is no shortage of core_17 work units.
If no client settings have changed, then this is not a support issue for the support forum.
The priority of work unit assignments is determined by Pande Group, and communication with that group is best facilitated on their reddit page.

Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
To answer the question: I'm using FAH 7.4.4 with default settings on Win7 (x64) on a GTX980. The NVidia drivers are 347.09.
When I just checked, I noticed that my GPU is currently crunching on a x17 WU. So most likely it was just a coincidence.
Thanks.

Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
You were right. It's a Maxwell thing. I have 2x GTX 980's, 1x GTX 970 and a GTX 780 folding. For the past 5 days nothing but Core x15's on Maxwell chips. The GTX 780 Kepler chip has been doing almost half of my PPD.CBT wrote:To answer the question: I'm using FAH 7.4.4 with default settings on Win7 (x64) on a GTX980. The NVidia drivers are 347.09.

I also run Win7 and NVIDIA 347.09 drivers and have some Core x17's running now on the 9xx cards.
I'm just a fellow folder from OCN.
Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
Same thing here.
No changes made to settings, drivers or even house temperature. The default "Provide information regarding this, that and the other thing" when the fact is most who would post about such an issue know well enough that if they did change settings they would let you know that there was a change. We post about this because when there are no changes made on our end there may be an issue with a server or a simple change in work unit priority.
I've changed to the "beta" flag form "advanced" but oddly enough I began getting Core17 projects just prior to that change.

Re: Low on Core_17 WU's?
Please don't blame the "staff" here. They are all volunteers. If Bruce asks for information, it's because that information is necessary to see if there are patterns to the failures. There is no other way of knowing what settings you are running, whether you have changed them or not. So if you want help, provide the information so that there is at least a chance of finding out what is wrong. It is quite possible that a server has been misconfigured, but without knowing your settings, it won't be possible to identify and rectify.
