One of my folding rigs cannot upload WUs at the moment. I've read the sticky about server specific issues, and from what I can see all is good. I can also "connect" to the server in some way, but I get 401 HTTP UNAUTHORIZED /. But, I guess that means it actually finds the work server. Anyway... here's the log as it looks right now - please help me if you can:
It appears that the upload is timing out after 15 minutes which is a default setting for many of the servers. As this is a small to medium size results file, the upload link is fairly slow. What do you have for internet service, and is there some other high bandwidth network traffic going on such as torrents or video uploads?
iMac 2.8 i7 12 GB smp8, Mac Pro 2.8 quad 12 GB smp6
MacBook Pro 2.9 i7 8 GB smp3
No torrent traffic (first thing I shut off), and the 2nd folder is fine. Also tried two different connections to the modem - cabled and wireless. Bandwidths are both more than OK. Internet service? Fiber
In 15 minutes you were only able to upload ~18% of 8.36MiB or 0.1 MB per minute. Not only is it pretty slow (and certainly less that I'd expect for Fiber) it's very consistent over the whole period EXCEPT between 12:55:31 and 15:56:03 where your clock suddenly jumped by what looks like exactly three hours.
The clock jump is true, it was due to a time zone error I noticed when I was trying to figure out the issue.
The DL speed was fine, but I see my UL speed is crap. It's normal on the other rigs, though... not sure what's going on here.
Edit: not sure if it's possible, but can I move the WUs from one rig to another and then upload the lot? I don't fold on my main rig due to a noisy cooler on my 290, but I have FAH installed anyway...
Lately my upload speed to Stanford has been really bad and I am pretty sure it is on Stanford's end, all the Internet speed test I have run says my end is fine. I have run speed test while uploading to Stanford and chose a server in the same area as Stanford the speed test to Stanford's area show no problem with my upload speed but yet my upload to Stanford was crawling at a snails pace. Under normal conditions I upload a bigadv WU to Stanford in under 2 min and download a new bigadv WU from Stanford in less than 1 min. but lately the uploads to Stanford have been taking 15 to 30 min. (They just crawl) while the downloads from Stanford are still fast. I would venture to say either Stanford has a Internet problem or they are throttling for some reason.
Nothing on a computer can really be called IMPOSSIBLE, but moving WUs to a different computer will provide you with many, many ways to screw up and loose the WUs so I don't recommend that you try it.
Grandpa01 might be right -- or might not be.
Your log shows slow uploads to 171.65.103.160. Scan the logs of the computers which have successfully uploaded at normal speeds and see if they've successfully returned any WUs to that server. There are no recent reports associated with that server from anyone else.
Have you restarted everything associated with that slow upload speed? PC, Router, etc.
Hi all,
I've extended the upload time limit for 171.67.108.52 from 15 min to 2 hr. Based on the reported upload speed, this should give sufficient time to return the whole WU. Let me know if there's still an issue in the future.
The problem is not just on these servers it is also on the bigadv servers, as you can see below it took 31 min to upload the WU and only took 14 sec to download the next bigadv WU, I also did a ISP speed test to San Lous Obisipo and LA. while it was uploading to stanford and my speed was fine 5.78/Mbps the 48 kB/s is quit a long was from that. Perhaps someone need to give the collection servers a quick kick

I've seen an occasional slowdown in the past when two clients are uploading at the same time but that's fairly rare in my case.

The bigadv server, 128.143.231.201, is located at the University of Virginia, not Stanford:

Thanks next time I will do a speed test to Virginia and see if there is any problem there, it is good to know all of yours have been normal but what is normal for your connection. There is always the possibility that Comcast is throttling me.
