ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Could not get an assignment

Post by ertpresso »

I am a new user. Please excuse me if I am asking a basic question.

I have installed fahclient and fahcontrol 7.4.4 to my VPS running Ubuntu 64 bit.

I get following error:
...@...:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient log
11:32:45:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 171.67.108.200:8080
11:32:46:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '171.67.108.200:8080': Empty work server assignment
11:32:46:WU00:FS00:Connecting to 171.67.108.204:80
11:32:46:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '171.67.108.204:80': Empty work server assignment
11:32:46:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Could not get an assignment
I have searched about this error but I am not sure other posts about this error related to this occasion.

Should I need to allow incoming connections in the firewall of my VPS?

I have read somewhere that the reason is "out of WU's for the uniprocessor client". I don't know what that means.

I will appreciate if you can help me understand and solve this problem. Thank you.

Welcome to the world of folding ertpresso,

no problems with basic questions; we all started at one point in time with similar one. Uniprocessor would mean a slot for CPU configured with 1 core/thread only.
It would be helpful for us if you could post the first around 100 lines of the log file where we can see the config of your setup.

How many CPU/what CPU does your VPS cover ? I tried once a small Amazon EWS instance with a single core; free tier; I gave up as the runtime was far too long and the required deadlines could no be achieved.

Hello ChristianVirtual

Thank you for your kind reply.

Please find the first lines of the log file here.

This is a 512MB Ram Ubuntu 14.10 x64 VPS on digitalocean.com.

I read in the log file that there is not any GPU on the VPS. May that be the reason for this error?

easier if you just copy the log in a code-block (full editor or enter yourself

Code: Select all
...
)

Code: Select all

and yes; your guess with uniprocessor was correct: you have one Core in the VPS and to my understanding there is no supply anymore. Means your VPS in this setup will not really fold anything. If you could at least get two cores assigned to the VPS it could do something (but look after the price).

GPU in VPS ? Not sure if that ever worked out. I tried that with Amazon with no success. Mainly trouble with drivers in the virtual environment those systems are running.

Thank you for clarification. I'll uninstall the software from the VPS in this case.
