~225,000 PPD system

AMD 8 core processor running @ 4GHZ -> ~10,000 PPD on project 8578
Gigabyte GTX 780 TI forced to run @ 65C max with power limit not linked to temperature by MSI Afterburner (for lo fan noise & easy on system (~2100 RPM = ~50% speed)) on project 13001 runs at ~95% max usage -> ~215,000 PPD

I put a 2nd 780 TI into the system for several weeks & one GPU took about 1 1/2 times longer to run a job. This configuration must cause some conflicts. Am putting the 2nd card into a 2nd computer with old & slower i7 processor.

Bought these cards to do electromagnetic research using CUDA, as well as to help folding. Gigabyte reviews claim to have some problems (crashing) with gaming. I don't use them for that & have had almost no problems with folding (haven't got my research going yet). The one problem I've noticed is that I get the message that a GPU has stopped (when I had 2 GPUs in the system), but successfully restarted. I didn't notice any screen flicker when it happened (~5 times).

please keep in mind you need one CPU core for each GPU card (as rule of thumb). Hope you reduced the CPU folding down to cpu:6 when two GPU are in the system. That should solve the problem with a reduced performance. Also make sure to use newer driver in case of 780TI.

Please note that sometimes, some factory overclocked GPUs are unstable for folding. In such cases, it is advised to reduce the frequencies to Nvidia stock settings which usually resolves the issue.

Also, if you are talking about a VPU message which states that the driver was reset, it is possible that the frequencies were reduced to 2D mode instead of 3D mode which may account for the longer time taken to fold WUs. In that case, rebooting the system would allow the GPU to function at 3D mode. However, you would still need to figure out why the GPU crashed in the first place.

My experience is not the same as yours but maybe part of it is and it might be useful.
When I got a message that a GPU has stopped, I did get a brief screen flicker/refresh but I was only running one GPU. Are you sure you were looking at a monitor attached to the GPU that was reset?
In addition to the on-screen message (if you're running Windows) there will be another message in the event log. It may or may not provide useful information.

I am running 2 GTX 780ti's together (win7) with no conflict like you mention, I do allow each one a clear core though. If you fail a unit or have an issue the GPU involved slows down significantly to protect work and hardware. If you are sure the issue isn't serious a restart clears this.
