The regular client always works with port 80 and port 8080. The only time one or the other port does not work is when the work servers that match your configuration are not configured to give out work on one or the other port.

I don't know why all servers are not always configured to give work on both ports. Maybe you could get a Mod to ping the researcher(s) responsible for those servers you mentioned having assignment problems.

The Assignment Server for port 80 seems to be working. http://171.64.65.121

You really need to post the first couple pages of the log so we can see your hardware configuration.

It's in there earlier in the thread. It's a 2012 Mac Pro with 24 cores. When I turn it down to use 1 core, it still doesn't get work from the port 80 servers.

Why do you only want to fold on one Core if you get 24?
Change to use 8-12 Cores and - I think - you will have no problems anymore.

I normally use 24, but I've tried 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 12, and 20 to troubleshoot. None of them will get jobs from port 80 servers.

Since 1-2 weeks my clients are successfully assigned to a server (129.74.246.143) but they cannot get new jobs. The message is Attempt #XXX to get work failed, and no other work to do.
This happens for hours and even fews days, then I get a new job. It's a waste of time letting all these PCs on for days without folding.
What is going on?

thanks, Angelo

Welcome to the F@H Forum AngeloMascaro,

Could you please post the log file showing; the system configuration, F@H settings and the error messages (viewtopic.php?f=61&t=26036)? Have you checked that your security application (Firewall, etc) isn't interfering with F@H communication?

I had this issue on a Mac client. I went to the Configure button on the FAHControl and removed and re-added the CPU/GPU slots. The downloads then resumed properly.

Welcome to the F@H Forum HortonHouse,

Please note that currently on OSX, there isn't any GPU support so you can remove the GPU Slot. Apple has been notified of the bugs and progress has been made (https://folding.stanford.edu/home/worki ... u-support/) but there's no guarantee or ETA as to when GPU folding will be officially supported on OSX.

I've been manually tethering my Mac at work to get the downloads kicked off. This morning after it timed out on port 8080, it actually got a job on port 80 without being tethered. That's the first time in months!

Please post the following segments from your log:
A) an unteathered connection that fails to get an assignment.
B) an unteathered connection that successfully gets an assignment.

be sure to include about a page of the log before and a page after those events.

So, to summarize... 171.64.65.121:80 has no assignments for me, but 171.64.65.99:80 does.

Try rebooting your router. I had a similar looking failure that turned out to be a router issue. If the problem were at the servers, more people would be reporting it here. I think the "Timed out" message gives a clue.

The successful connection in your log extract was an upload of completed work, not a download. he download should be in the preceding bit of log.

It's work, so I can't exactly reboot the router. :-)
