What does (un)checking the follow box (lower right) on the log window do?

When follow is checked, and the core adds a line to the log then the page jumps to the end, regardless of what you are looking at in the log. When the follow is unchecked then the location showing does change when that new line is added.

It is really annoying if you have a big log and are searching/scrolling for a particular item to have the log just move back to the end of the log. To eliminate that problem, uncheck the follow and you can scroll and read freely without worry that at some point it will jump back to the end because a core wrote to it.

When your not searching the log, having FOLLOW set makes sense since you generally want to see the most recent information at the tail of the file.
