hey all, I've got a nvidia GTX 670 and I also have a spare radeon 6850 kicking around..
I have x2 PCI-E slots can i put them both in and use the 670 as my main card for games etc but also use the 6850 for folding@home?? is this possible?
Adding a AMD card to my Intel/Nvidia rig for purely folding?

- Hardware configuration: Machine #1:
Intel Q9450; 2x2GB=8GB Ram; Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 Motherboard; PC Power and Cooling Q750 PS; 2x GTX 460; Windows Server 2008 X64 (SP1).
Machine #2:
Intel Q6600; 2x2GB=4GB Ram; Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 Motherboard; PC Power and Cooling Q750 PS; 2x GTX 460 video card; Windows 7 X64.
Machine 3:
Dell Dimension 8400, 3.2GHz P4 4x512GB Ram, Video card GTX 460, Windows 7 X32
I am currently folding just on the 5x GTX 460's for aprox. 70K PPD - Location: Salem. OR USA

It can be done, but sometimes it is a frustrating experience for occasionally a bit of fiddle-factor is needed. A 6850's going to be a poor producer compared to the 670, so I question if it is worth it to you.

That would be the last item on my todo list ... While technically possible not sure if the efforts and time to get it running are worth it. If you want to spend your time on it: good luck and let us know how many grey hair you gained over it
But seriously: I remember I read somewhere that it even depend on the sequence of the cards in the slots. Don't remember the sequence though. Somewhere my brain recalls NV card closer to the CPU. Not sure.
Also make sure your PSU has enough watts on the 12rails to drive multiple GPUs. And cooling might become an issue too.
Windows ? Linux ? No AMD-GPU under Linux in case.

Re: Adding a AMD card to my Intel/Nvidia rig for purely fold
It's how i want to run things so yeah... I don't like using my GTX 670 or i7 for folding i want a GPU dedicated to folding so i can still use my pc for gaming and things without issues (and noise)
I've got it running now the 2 cards are playing well together but the latest folding client seems unable to make the AMD GPU fold only the Nvidia one with the i7 cpu...
My PSU is fine It's a high end Corsair TX650 PSU. Also cooling is no issue at all I've got a Antec 900 case with x4 120mm fans and x1 200mm fan as well as a pure copper zalman cooler for the CPU... it runs very cool!
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.
Any idea's how i can get the 2nd GPU running without all the rest of it running? Maybe i need to run the GPU2/3 console client instead?

The GPU2/3 console client will not work for you. The Core_17 WU's need the V7 client to run on either GPU you have, and I seem to recall you would need at least V7 to fold the few Core_16 WU's still left to fold on the AMD card.

You need to post the log, including the system and config portions to give more detailed suggestions as to why your card isn't working.
