Failed to get assignment from assign3 & 4 [CPU<Min]

This is a new install. 386 CPU, 512 Mib RAM, Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS.
It connects to assign3.stanford.edu & assign4.stanford.edu (OK) but has not received an assigment yet, waiting for 3 days.

Perhaps this old box is too weak?

Please advise.

Intel Q9450; 2x2GB=8GB Ram; Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 Motherboard; PC Power and Cooling Q750 PS; 2x GTX 460; Windows Server 2008 X64 (SP1).

Machine #2:

Intel Q6600; 2x2GB=4GB Ram; Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 Motherboard; PC Power and Cooling Q750 PS; 2x GTX 460 video card; Windows 7 X64.

Machine 3:

Dell Dimension 8400, 3.2GHz P4 4x512GB Ram, Video card GTX 460, Windows 7 X32

I am currently folding just on the 5x GTX 460's for aprox. 70K PPD

Check your internet connection or more specifically DNS settings. Your machine is not converting assign3.stanford.edu to an IP address.

As best as I can tell by looking up the CPU identified in the log as "GenuineIntel Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 10", that is Pentium 3 at 750 MHz. The minimum requirement listed in the Installation Guide is a P4 at 1.4 GHz. So I don't think you are going to find any work for that system.

There used to be suitable work for a single CPU P3, but that has mostly dried up over the last 6 months. You would probably need to run the V6 software if any is still available.

Welcome to the F@H Forum howler4x4,

Assuming that you have Pentium 3 and would like to fold, may I suggest that you look into the Chrome Folding App which was recently released for Beta Testing (viewtopic.php?f=95&t=25878). If you do experiment with it, would like to hear about your experience.

Chrome won't run properly on the 386, so I can't even try the folding app.

FAH won't run properly on a 386 either, but I wasn't sure about the (new) Chrome client until you said it.

Maybe I should have said "Chrome won't run properly on *MY* 386" ?

I was getting an error re. NaCL & sandbox. I gave up on it.

I don't know what other 386's would do in more linux-knowledgeble hands.
