I have just aquired 6 of these systems and I would like to use the GPUs to fold, however I'm getting the message that these cards are unsupported. I found the card listed in the GPUs.txt file, I even copied the GPUs.tx file to the /etc/fahclient folder as per the instructions (even though this new fahclient is supposed to automatically update itself) and still no joy.
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 (fully updated) and the GPU driver is 304.116
Any suggestions?

Re: GPU folding
Sorry, but I have no solution for you.
The GPUs.txt file is a grey list with both supported and unsupported cards listed. Your card is black-listed.
0x10de:0x00ce:::NV41GL [Quadro FX 1400]
The ::: means it is unsupported and can't be used by the current client. Numbers in between the colons indicate the type of card and what will run on it. Nothing there means we can't use it.

Please note that V7.4.2 which is in open beta (viewtopic.php?f=94&t=25657) has the fix to automatically download the GPUs.txt file if the first attempt failed. However, since your GPU is unsupported, you can't fold with it regardless of the client version.

According to the final post in this ^^^ thread, a previous version of the folding client will allow folding on "unauthorized GPUs". Is there any particular reason that I shouldn't give the older client a try?

Re: GPU folding
The Quadro FX 1400 is based on the GeForce 6800. This model, as well as every other Nvidia GPU prior to the 8000 series, has never been able to fold at all, as there was never a core written to run on that architecture. I'm virtually certain that even if you did try to force the v6 client to run on it, the servers wouldn't give it any work.
Re: GPU folding
Even if you did figure out a way to fold with an unsupported GPU (which I doubt you can do) you'd stand a pretty good chance of creating corrupt results which would be dumped, sooner or later. Stanford intentionally defined the GPU as UNSUPPORTED.
