website down

Post by k1wi »

Is it just me or are other people also finding that the folding.stanford.edu site is returning the following error:
Stanford University Proxy Server

Welcome to the Stanford University Proxy Server!

If you have gotten to this page, the proxy you are trying to get to is either currently suffering some sort of problem such that it is not showing up in the proxy configurations OR (more likely) the process for setting up this proxy in the proxy service is not yet completed. For assistance, please submit a HelpSU request.

I have been getting what k1wi is getting for the past couple days. I figured it must be something strange as it wasn't reported here (usually it is within a couple minutes). Thoughts on anything I should try on my end to fix it?

It is something up with my browser/computer, as I tried another computer in my house and the site worked fine. I'll debug later. Thoughts on what to try?

Those that are encountering the issue, can you access http://www.stanford.edu without any issue or not?

Yes, that is accessible, but folding.stanford.edu gives the proxy page (above) and sub-pages are 404 Not Found.

I saw the same message (as K1wi) yesterday morning but after a few minutes and refreshing the page it worked okay.
Not seen it since then.

This is bizarre. From Linux it works, from Vista (different PC, same ADSL connection) it doesn't. Tried clearing cache, same result.

7im, what's the Windows mantra for trace route?

In a Windows command box (DOS prompt) type "tracert folding.stanford.edu" without the quotes.
