Post by jmoney05txst »

I am a new folder and having a few issues

1 I don't see how I can toggle my GPU without running everything at high
2 I can't find where I have accumulated any points
3 even if i did accumulate any, i just now checked the browser and it appears I am stuck at 0 progress anyways
4 if i run everything on high for awhile it actually shuts down my computer

i7 4770k running at 4.3 ghz at 1.312 vlt
gtx 770

any help is appreciated

I reviewed my notes from when I first set-up, and 2, 3 are resolved

On settings lower than High, GPU folding will start when the system is considered Idle. That can be from the FAH screensaver starting up or the screen being turned off due to user inactivity. Some sensitive mice or keyboards can keep the system out of Idle. There is more information on Idle detection in the installation guides and V7 FAQ's that can be found from "The Software" link usually at the top of every forum page.

As for your system shutting down with everything active, that can point to insufficient cooling or an overclock that is not folding stable. The folding software uses computing resources at full activity that will stress a PC beyond what most other software apps will.

Posting your log file, especially the beginning section that shows the system configuration and folding setup would be useful for further exploration of your problems. You can find the log file in the FAH data directory. If you post it between Code tags that you can select from the top of the forum's Full Editor for postings it will be shown in a scrolling window.
