Stanford servers have been having an unusual number of problems recently and whatever they've done to fix them doesn't seem to be a permanent fix. About the only positive statement I can offer is that the likelihood of a permanent loss of points is very close to zero. Points may be delayed, but probably not lost.

Did they upgrade the servers from i386s to Pentium IIs? If so, that should keep them good for a couple of years.
