Is the server down?

Stat-server seems to be down!
There has not been an update the last 9 hours, so stat-server seems to be down! There is no information on the blog, anybody know what the error is?
Re: Stat-server seems to be down!
A number of server-related problems have surfaced over the last day. PG has been notified but we haven't seen any updates. If you have any software updates or cleaning to do now might be the time.
Problems I've noticed so far:
1. Server Status has not updated since Tue Jan 7 13:00:11 PST 2014.
2. GPU assignment server is not assigning work:
3. Official Stats are not updating which is resulting in no updates for the 3rd party stats
I'm not seeing a problem with any of my cpu slots so that may be a temporary alternative for some who don't normally fold on their cpu.

Is the server down?
Dear All,
Is some kind of server down somewhere? I keep getting this message as from yesterday afternoon:
14:01:34:WU01:FS01:Connecting to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80
14:01:55:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80': Failed to connect to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my GPUs and the internet appears to be working fine...
Does anyone know why this is happening?

Re: Is the server down?
Ah ok I did search to find if there was a post like this honest! O:-)
Thanks for the prompt reply!
So I guess we just sit tight and wait for it to get sorted out right?

As is often suggested, it can be a good time to install updates, shovel out the dust in your filters, tidy up that rat's nest of cables behind the desk etc

Re: Is the server down?
Basically, yes we all have to sit tight and wait for the server problems to be sorted out. There have been some ongoing issues, see some recent blog posts, and this also is a break period for many academic institutions. So they probably have reduced staff to troubleshoot and fix the problem. Also make some adjustments in expectations to take into account that Stanford is on the west coast time wise.
P.S. I have received a note that Stanford is on a academic quarter schedule instead of semesters, and the current quarter started Monday. So, from my experience they may have near full staff, but everyone will be rushing around taking care of all of the last minute tasks related to beginning an academic session. That can cause more delays than a break period. And even sysadmins have to sleep sometime.

Sort of… It's credited me with points for one WU, about another 8 to go.mlpickerel wrote:Stats appear to be up again
Ah well, patience is a virtue. So I'm told
Re: Is the server down?
Looks like it may be fixed, for now. All six of my GPU clients just downloaded new units. Last attempt had been 45 minutes ago. YMMV.
Fold! It does a body good!™

Re: Is the server down?
Updates seem to have packed up again after one partial run, and I've just had a few "Exception: Could not get an assignment" for an smp client (the 4th request worked)… I fear all is not well with the Stanford servers
But the Server Status page seems to be working

No update one hour ago, so stat seems to be down again!
