Post by philsocal »

SMP linux servers, running fahclient_7.3.6_amd64

in log.txt,
16:53:07:WU00:FS00:Downloading core from http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Linux/AMD64/Core_17.fah
16:53:07:WU00:FS00:Connecting to www.stanford.edu:80
16:53:07:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Failed to access core package.

navigating to http://www.stanford.edu/~pande/Linux/AMD64 with web browser shows no core_17.fah, but shows other cores.

is there a fix for this? help!

Folding in Linux does not yet support AMD/ATI GPUs. No eta on when or even if it will although I think if they improve their OPENCL drivers it will probably be supported at some point in the future.

Only Nvidia on Linux so far.

Core 17 is a GPU core. Please supply your log including the System Info and Config sections as explained here and the section showing the downloading of the work unit just prior to the messages reported in your opening post.

    This is a sample XML configuration file for the Folding@home
    console client. This configuration file format is explained
    in detail in the Client User's Guide.

    Copy this file to 'config.xml' and edit.

    To set your user name, team and passkey just edit the text
    in quotes below.
  -->

  <!-- User Information -->
  <user value="phil_socal"/> <!-- Enter your user name here -->
  <team value="111065"/>         <!-- Your team number -->
  <passkey value="deleted"/>       <!-- 32 hexadecimal characters if provided -->

  <power value="full"/>
  <gpu value="false"/> <!-- If true, attempt to autoconfigure GPUs -->
  <fold-anon value="true"/>

<allow>127.0.0.1 x.x.x.x</allow>
<password>PASS</password>
  <!-- Folding Slots
    No folding slot configuration is necessary. The client will
    automaticlaly choose a good configuration for you. However, here
    are some examples:

      <slot id="0" type="CPU"/>

    or

      <slot id="0" type="CPU"/>
      <slot id="1" type="GPU"/>

    All slots in a configuration MUST have unique ids.
   -->

  <!-- Granting Remote FAHControl Access
    To grant remote access to FAHControl and the remote command server add
    the following:

<allow>127.0.0.1 x.x.x.x</allow>
<password>PASS</password>

    Where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the computer which should be granted
    remote access and PASS is you choose to further secure the connection.
  -->

  <!-- Granting Remote Web Access
    If you would like to grant remote Web access then you need these two
    configuration lines:

      <allow>127.0.0.1 x.x.x.x</allow>
      <web-allow>127.0.0.1 x.x.x.x</web-allow>

    Where x.x.x.x is the IP address of the computer which should be granted
    remote access. You may also need to open port 7396 on your firewall.

    You can then access the Web interface remotely by going to this address:

      http://y.y.y.y:7396/

    Where y.y.y.y is the IP address of this computer.

I may have added the above to my post after you read it but we need to see that info too. The info may be in a one of the previous logs which are located in the logs folder of your Data Directory. If you performed a default install the information should be in /var/lib/fahclient.

That's the sample-config.xml file, not that actual "config.xml" file. There is no need to use that file. The fah installer creates one for you automatically. Please post the config.xml file created by fah.

Wil-
Thanks for taking a look at this-
In my /etc/fahclient/config.xml (posted above), the

<slot id="1" type="GPU"/>

is actually in the comments section. I added <slot id="0" type="CPU"/> to the config.xml (outside the comments section), deleted the work directory, and it pulled down the correct core_a4 and is folding away.

Thanks- Your dedication to the folding community is outstanding.
