Add a cause preference?
I'm not sure if the cause-preference recently added actually does anything, but if it does, would you consider adding a preference for infectious disease? I was actually drawn to FAH by the influenza work (the 810x bigadv projects), but there are an increasing number of smp projects related to infectious disease also.

Re: Add a cause preference?
The disease preference option exists in the client but hasn't been fully implemented yet. It will take an upgrade to the work server's software.
I have no doubt that the diseases the scientists study in relation to folding will change over time. I have no idea how PG plans to deal with that issue.

Re: Add a cause preference?
Is this implemented on the servers now?

Re: Add a cause preference?
Thanks, 7im. Any idea how choosing a specific cause could impact your WU variety and/or PPD? Is it possible that one cause is using mainly one type of WU? Are the different types of WUs balanced out enough in points that it shouldn't matter?

Re: Add a cause preference?
Of course it will initially limit your WU selection to specific projects, but like any client "preference" setting, it will fold other kinds of projects if your selected preference runs low on WUs. Just like requesting "advanced" work units, but getting regular units when there are no advanced units available.
It will not affect PPD, because all projects, regardless of preference type, go through the same benchmarking process.

Re: Add a cause preference?
Good to know. The option was in the client at least back in March (looking at some other thread). Is this something to look for soon? Or maybe not for a while?
