Welcome to the F@H Forum japorter1949,

Can you please tell us which version of F@H software you are using? From this thread, it seems that the latest version would work fine.

You can try the following old hacks that made at least the previous client run under Fedora (I thought this was fixed by now though):

I'm trying the latest version (7.3.6.1). I think I'll try 7.3.2- like is mentioned in the other thread.

Um... never mind I guess I can't download that any more.

In any case, I tried the fix using nodeps and the first command didn't seem to do anything.

Please note that the latest version is V7.3.6. I am not sure why you can't download it but can you please give us the URL and the error message? You can download the appropriate public versions from this URL -> https://fah.stanford.edu/file-releases/beta/release/

Which package are you having trouble with? The Client or FaHControl? I just assumed FaHControl since rpm -qR on the client does not list python as a dependency.

If FaHControl, did you run the commands in the order specified?

Actually, I tried it again and I guess it did work... It just didn't say so, In any case, I can now run FaHControl, but the client isn't running (or installed?)

How do I see if the client is installed? and if it's not installed, install it?

Whoo Ho! I finally figured out that you had to download and install 3 separate pieces,,,

In any case, it looks like all is well now. Thanks a bunch for your help...

For most installations, FAHControl and FAHClient are essential. The third piece may be nice, but it isn't essential.

I have Fedora 18 x64. When installing the FAHControl I get a dependency error for python 2.6(abi) as follows:

"error: Failed dependencies:
python(abi) = 2.6 is needed by fahcontrol-7.3.6-1.noarch"

When I proceed using
"rpm -Uhv --nodeps fahcontrol*.rpm"
The package says it installed, but on using the shortcut from the KDE menu for fahControl, nothing happens.
