I have a somewhat strange problem - the installer has recognised that I do have a compatible GPU (GeForce GT 630M), but it never seems to think it's available.
It's stuck at "Waiting for Idle" - I'm sure I'm not using anything else that could be making it wait.
Here's a screenshot:
The SMP slot is working A-OK, which is great, but I'd love to be able to have my GPU contribute as well.

Re: GPU stuck at waiting for idle?
AFAIK the power slider needs to be on "full" for the GPU to work.
It seems I can't write a signature that both conveys my feelings and doesn't look like a miserable trolling attempt...

Re: GPU stuck at waiting for idle?
Or the system has to be idle for a period of time and then the GPU slot should become active. Some persons have reported problems with their system entering an idle state or that state being detected by the F@H client software. But normally if you do not use the keyboard or mouse for a while the GPU slot should start processing.

Re: GPU stuck at waiting for idle?
Alright, thanks for the advice, I'll try that out.
Yep, set the slider to "Full" and the GPU went on up! Thanks!

Re: GPU stuck at waiting for idle?
Welcome to the F@H Forum Ivy,
Based on the GPU Model, Nvidia GeForce GT 630M, it seems that you are folding on a laptop. Please ensure that you are monitoring the temperatures of the CPU and GPU and that there is enough ventilation to allow efficient heat dissipation. You could either purchase a laptop cooling pad or raise the laptop by using bottle caps to increase the distance between the surface and the base of the laptop. This aids in the air circulation and can lower the temperature. Cleaning the intakes and fan from dust could be helpful. Finally, if your laptop is stationary for very long periods of time (using it as a desktop replacement), you could remove the base cover if wanted to further lower the temperature of the CPU/GPU.

Re: GPU stuck at waiting for idle?
What notebook brand are you running (samsung, toshiba, hp, sony, ...) If it's a samsung, you'll get better ppd by just running the cpu only (depending on chip (I've got an i7). I get 1k-4k less ppd if I run both simply because of the total failure of the cooling design. My temps hit the 100C mark by running cpu only and that causes the gpu temps to sit at 80C. Just a forewarning. Your temps might skyrocket to the point where it feels like the notebook is on fire.
It's not a retreat, it's a Tactical Withdrawal. Get it right!
