Time (for me) to celebrate... I was just able to fold 1M PPD for two days in a row. The best part is that I think I can sustain it.

I feel like I'm standing among giants in this forum. There are some amazingly talented folks here that have been folding for years. I am grateful for everyone's suggestions, tips, and tricks... and I'm glad to be able to make a humble contribution to this great effort.
WoHo!!

That is amazing. That is a large number. Just to but it in perspektiv: if you fold in 19 days you will have contributed the same as I have in roughly 2 years. but you have a larger base than I. I envy you.

Re: Happy dance...
This is a wonderful project that is contributing a great deal to the body of knowledge. Personally, I really appreciate anyone that has been folding as long as you have (and so many others in this forum). Your tenure is inspirational and shows a great deal of discipline and dedication. That's what I call amazing.
Have a great day!

Re: Happy dance...
Some of us so-called giants remember when a WU was worth one point and took about a day to finish. I probably accumulated a couple of hundred points during my first year of folding. Sure, our hardware was a lot slower then, but there's not a lot to show for that work in today's environment.N0OA wrote:I feel like I'm standing among giants in this forum. Re: Happy dance...
I remember some of those days Bruce, back then "2002/03" if you did 100 points in a month "not 100k" you were one
of the Top Dogs back then on whatever team you were folding for. I can remember breaking the 1,000
point month barrier and really thought I had done something by accomplishing that.
I'm sure when some look at work unit count and think wow that's a lot of WU's for so little points.
There thinking heck I did x amout of WU's and already have almost as many point as this guy.
Don't realize that a completed WU wasn't worth much back in the start of FAH like they are today.

Though the points don't reflect it, I think the metaphor is something about "standing on the shoulders of giants"
It's really rewarding to know that we all contribute whatever we can.

Re: Happy dance...
Looking at work units completed 141,092 doesn't seem like a lot vs a 10 year effort on my part.

Re: Happy dance...
I've only done 13,129 over the course of the last year. Your 141,092 is a fantastic number in my book. The WU may have gotten larger as the available compute power has gone up and the point value per WU has increased proportionally... but the number of WU speaks to the tenure of the folders, such as yourself, who have dedicated so much time and resource to this effort. I can only dream of getting to over 140,000 WU.
Great job!
