Project: 2605 (Run 4, Clone 26, Gen 51)

Post by dutchmm »

This unit started on Tuesday and completed on Wednesday morning this week. After completion, it did NOT upload its results, nor fetch another unit.
The log entries show:
  • 10:51:26] Completed 500000 out of 500000 steps (100 percent)
    [10:51:26] Writing final coordinates.
    [10:51:26] Past main M.D. loop
    [10:51:26] Will end MPI now
    [10:52:26]
    [10:52:26] Finished Work Unit:
    [10:52:26] - Reading up to 3721632 from "work/wudata_00.arc": Read 3721632
    [10:52:26] - Reading up to 1774952 from "work/wudata_00.xtc": Read 1774952
    [10:52:26] goefile size: 0
    [10:52:26] logfile size: 16912
    [10:52:26] Leaving Run
[10:52:28] - Writing 5517896 bytes of core data to disk...
    [10:52:28] ... Done.
    [10:52:29] - Shutting down core
    [10:52:29]
    [10:52:29] Folding@home Core Shutdown: FINISHED_UNIT
and it just hung there till I got home. I looked up the index number with qd, and got 0 (qd reported that it was still folding), so I killed off the running fah6 process, and tried to send results 0.
No dice
I also tried restarting the fah6 program.
No dice:
So I uttered a few oaths, and stopped folding on this machine for 48 hours. Then I deleted all the work files and queue.dat, and restarted.
And I have got the same !@# WU again
Estimated time of completion is around midnight CET this evening, but if it just dies again, it will kill off some of my enthusiasm for folding.

Hello dutchmm, sorry I don't have an answer for you as to why this happens. All part of beta testing a new client type I guess.

Something to try in the future, so at least the points are not lost... there is a sticky post in the SMP section about how to run an app called qfix when a WU hangs at 100% completion. Doesn't work everytime, but worth a shot to try to get points, and not have to do the same WU over again.
How to provide enough information to get helpful support

Hi,

I just checked this project on our end and the servers seems to be okay. I've alerted the researcher in charge to keep an eye on it.

Thanks,

Relly

Well, oddly enough, the second attempt completed successfully. No idea what went wrong the first time round.

And thanks, animal, for the qfix tip. I will try it out on my next EUE
