Updating clients

Post by iceman1992 »

How can I update clients without manually uninstalling the old one? And without losing the config too.

I have had good luck upgrading from 7.x to the current version. Just pause all folding, quit the client and upgrade.

I normally upgrade by just installing the new Windows client on top of the older one. (I have not upgraded my Linux systems yet and I'm not sure about OS-X.) I do not lose my config nor have I ever lost a WU that was being processed, though it's probably safest to finish the current WU(s).

Because of the new features in V7.3.6, your shorcuts will be removed and replaced. and some changes will be made to your configuration. The default slider position will be set to less than FULL performance, but that's noted in the announcement and it can be easily adjusted if that's not your choice. If you use "pause-on-start" I would remove it before upgrading and then re-add it later.
