314.07 WHQL issues
Since updating to the latest WHQL release I've been having some driver crashes. It recovers immediately and does not seem to interrupt folding, but annoying when it happens and something to look at. I was previously using a 313 beta driver which did not have this problem.
I'm using a GTX 680 and a GTX 470.

Do the clock speed reduce to 2D or are they same as 3D once the driver recovers from crash?
You can always go back the last working WHQL driver if you want (assuming you don't have other reasons) since AFAIK, most drivers improve game performances and hardly change F@H performance so it is easy to just stick to one WQHL and let F@H run smoothly.

Clocks are normal 3D after crash. I'll probably try reverting the driver at some point.

ensure you delete the current driver from the windows control panel, reboot and re-install the driver of your choice chose a custom install, clean install and only install the Graphics driver and PhysX drivers, NOT the HD Audio or 3D drivers and reboot again, the latest drivers respond differently and the old methods should no longer be used

And as we discussed on the AMD side, Microsoft has ingenious methods for defeating you best efforts to install the drivers you want. In particular, they like to slip in some older version (downloaded or already on your disk) before you can install the new ones. And some driver versions (depending on the family, etc.) do not upgrade well from certain previous ones. So not only do you have to cleanly uninstall the current drivers, you have to ensure that no others get installed in the meantime.

It is enough to drive you to distraction, or Linux, whichever comes first.

The re-released v6.41r2 GPU3 client has worked well for me (thanks, PG/Stanford!) in getting 10 Linux/Wine/GPU3 systems folding with 10 GPUs. And the NVidia Linux v304.64 driver works best for me, in all systems (thanks, davidcoton, for pointing me to this!).JimF wrote:And as we discussed on the AMD side, Microsoft has ingenious methods for defeating you best efforts to install the drivers you want. Re: 314.07 WHQL issues
314.07 WHQL actually seems to work very well for me:
EDIT: Just got a P7624 WU, with it the GT430 folding performance is back to same old, same old.
- Desktop performance for Windows Aero: improved from 4.4 to 4.8 (display is connected to ION GPU)
- GT430 TPF improved a little: 11:53 -> 11:33 (about 2.8% drop) for the exact same WU
- ION folding performance remained the same
