First, I asked zodac (our retired editorial dictator) for his point of contact at Stanford to ask them directly. While I'm awaiting that point of contact, we're experiencing issues with our special permission passkey updating for our Team Competition. After a few years of successfully updating, we started having issues 2 days ago when our updates stopped completing because it appears the Stanford updates were taking longer to process. I've also noticed EOC's updates were fully or partially failing as well. I checked typepad, but don't see any announcements. Should we push our update time back, or is this a temporary issue? If we should push our update back, how late should we set it for?
Thank you kindly for your time.

Re: Stanford Stats Updates - Taking Longer To Complete?
Are you talking about the flat-files of stats which are available for download or about the data on stanford's web pages? I'm not familiar with a "special" arrangement with any of the teams, so I can't answer your question. I do know that the stats server was reportedly down briefly a day or two ago.
Re: Stanford Stats Updates - Taking Longer To Complete?
It's our own 'special' stats. The fast stats page doesn't have passkeys, so no. OCN stats search for the points done on a passkey so people can compete on teams against each other with specific hardware. When the Stanford stats aren't completed yet, ours doesn't work.
The whole site was done, not just the stats page.
Also, EOC is fine and hasn't missed an update.

Getting the stats from one of the regular stat pages that use cgi is a very bad NO NO. Stanford has banned people for such. You need to get the flat files and do your searches off them.

Yep. The stats page (http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Stats) says: Please do not use scripts to access the donor or team pages, but use the full donor list (flat files) instead. IP addresses which do not abide by our robots.txt rules will be banned.P5-133XL wrote:Getting the stats from one of the regular stat pages that use cgi is a very bad NO NO. and
Downloads of the daily donor and team lists should be limited to no more than 24 downloads a day.

Correct. That's why we asked first. I'm seeking more detail from the folks who set this all up as I took over afterwards.

Is it possible to modify your application so that it uses the flat files? They're specifically generated for user supported stats support.BWG wrote:Correct. That's why we asked first. I'm seeking more detail from the folks who set this all up as I took over afterwards.

We use passkeys to track 1 piece of hardware.
