Gosh, I hope someone replies to this. I really need someone's help.
I've been running Folding@Home for about ... oh... 10 years, on and off.
Mostly just have it installed on my own personal computers, laptops, etc.
I have a bunch of Dell PowerEdge 2950's, 710's, and 720's. Xeons. The new systems I just got have the E-series Intel processor, power efficient and have more cores than the older generation Xeons. I think they based the new E-series on the I5, I7 processor structures.
What I need help with is someone to answer a simple question.
>>>why can't I get the Windows Folding@Home exe to run on a Dell PE server?
I'm thinking it's because the onboard video chip isnt' great and I don't think it supports directx. There's tons of processing power in these units but I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't get Folding@Home to work on the PE servers.
would greatly appreciate a reply.
Thanks!

Re: Folding@Home Client on a Server
hi and welcome to the forum.
Which client version are you using? To run SMP on windows you will need either v6.34 or v7.2.9. Both versions work just fine on my xeon servers and all they have for video is an aspeed 2300 chip onboard.
If you are wanting to run the gpu clients you will need either an nvidia 8xxx or greater on amd 5xxx or gpu installed - either on the mobo or via a gpu card

Re: Folding@Home Client on a Server
To answer a why, people need far more information. Need to know what OS; What client; What is the error that is stopping you; Logs would be very helpful.
There is nothing in the clients that would inherently prevent you from folding on Dell Poweredge servers.
