It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.
My ATI Radeon 6990 GPU is stuck at 0% folding, it doesn't fold at all. The log doesn't find any errors, but GPU-Z doesn't state any GPU activity.
I'm using the 7.2.9 client, with CCC 12.10 drivers. SMP folds fine.
Drivers were on a fresh install of windows, so its not conflicting drivers.
Hope you guys can help, as i'd like my GPU to start pulling its weight!

Try reducing SMP to 6 cores because AMD GPUs require one free logical CPU each. Since you have a 4C/8T HyperThreaded CPU, SMP:6 will be almost as fast as SMP:8. You should also get a passkey in order to start collecting SMP Quick Return Bonus points eventually.
I reduced the number of cores, but that hasn't work, though i was unaware of that limitation. And i've put in a passkey as well now.
Any other ideas? I've already reinstalled the client, checked for updated drivers etc.
Also check that the OpenCL support has been installed along with the driver. Beyond that, a number of persons have reported problems using the 12.10+ drivers with F@H. Better results have been reported with 12.8 drivers.

Completed 2 projects to 99.99% last night, turned my PC on this morning, and low and behold, my GPUs log an error saying unable to connect to server.

Just be patient. The work server with suitable WU's for your GPU is currently empty. Also a number of other servers are down, so it may take a while for everything to be brought back into operation. You can pause the GPU folding slot and start it later if you want, or just leave it and it will download once there is work available. In the meantime your SMP slot does have work.

Ahhh i see, i was unaware that servers were down. Because of my pre existing problems i figured it was some fault on my end again
