Question about the new 7.2.9 Viewer

Post by iceman1992 »

What are snapshots, and does the viewer only show a limited length of time of the folding process, being replayed over and over? Because the snapshot goes to 7 and then back down again, repeatedly..

I think in general each 1% frame gets a new snapshot. That does not cover all projects for some give only demo's and others stay at a single snapshot.

It cycles through, and repeats, the trajectory data snapshots created by each fahcore. GPU fahcores are one per frame. SMP only creates a few per WU.

Oh I see.. I thought I could watch the whole process, to see the start and finish form difference. Has it always been like this, with the V6 viewer too?

Pull up your viewer when the GPU WU is at 98% done, and watch the whole thing.

Always been like this, yes and no. Same snapshots, but in a different data format. Was .xyz data, is now .tpr data. Old viewer didn't repeat, IIRC.
