client 6 vs client 7

is there a different in the PPD or Wu you get assign based on whitch client you are using?

Hardware configuration: Machine #1:

Intel Q9450; 2x2GB=8GB Ram; Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 Motherboard; PC Power and Cooling Q750 PS; 2x GTX 460; Windows Server 2008 X64 (SP1).

Machine #2:

Intel Q6600; 2x2GB=4GB Ram; Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 Motherboard; PC Power and Cooling Q750 PS; 2x GTX 460 video card; Windows 7 X64.

Machine 3:

Dell Dimension 8400, 3.2GHz P4 4x512GB Ram, Video card GTX 460, Windows 7 X32

I am currently folding just on the 5x GTX 460's for aprox. 70K PPD

There shouldn't be any PPD difference. PPD is determined by how fast a core works and they use the same cores. The clients do not use a significant amount of CPU.

I don't know enough about the assignment process of the two clients to know. I'm told yes, but I don't know why. For example: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21831&start=75#p225322

There are some projects that can only be assigned to V7.

As far as PPD is concerned, all projects use the same benchmarking procedures, as P5-133XL has said, except, of course, if you have hardware that isn't supported by V6 where you would be getting 0 ppd.
