Folding failing GTX680

I've been folding with my 680 fine since I got it and upgraded my GPU from a GTX 460 since Monday June 4th, but recently since yesterday my gpu client seems to be giving me a failed as its status. I do not believe that it is a nvidia driver issue as I know from others experience with the newest nvidia drivers that your monitor can go into sleep mode and still fold as mine has done that fine for the past 3-4 days. I do not know what is causing my GPU to have issues now as it never seems to go above 60C and that's with me folding even while I play video games.

Ah ok, thanks. Wasn't sure if it was my GPU or a client WU thing. My only issue is that since it failed for the third time I can't seem to get a WU to download anymore so the GPU can fold unless I use another folding client for the GPU. Don't know if anyone knows of any way to get the GPU to start folding again even if it fails? Otherwise I guess it's just a wait and hope a new WU group will come that won't fail?

you may have a hard time getting rid of p7640. i know i did. but if the card is just sleeping then go ahead and pause the client and then after it has completed pausing press quit. then restart the client. if you are very lucky you may get different work unit. good luck to you.

Do not use the beta flag. Those WUs are known to be unstable and they're supposed to only be assigned to people who voluntarily select the beta flag after joining the beta team.

Recommending the removal of the beta flag is the same as telling him to turn off the client. It won't fold without it. There has to be a better recommendation...

Wait for this project to get closed out, and then start up folding on the GPU again in a few days. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. However, I think my EVGA stock GTX 680 is the culprit here unless I can find a stable driver to use. Since the folding failures, I keep getting "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" as an error when folding with another folding client. Which by the way still gives me a similar error of failing. Supposedly it's the 301.42 drivers but rolled back and installed some earlier beta drivers others have suggested to still get the same error. Thinking I may have to do an RMA.

Right. Wait for the GTX680 to be fully supported, whether it's drivers or FAHcores that are still needed.

I'm surprised that the GTX680 is whitelisted.

I've been folding on my 680 for months without using that flag... :wink:

gwildperson is right, the only recommendation which does not violate forum policy is to tell 680 owners to wait until the core is publicly available, or join the beta team.

With an open beta section for everyone to read, the recommendation options are not so black and white any more.

Hello Dear,

I Think gwildperson is right the only recommendation which does not violate forum policy is to tell 680 owners to wait until the core is publicly available, Wait for this project to get closed out, and then start up folding on the GPU again in a few hours.

No, actually I could also tell them they could join the beta team and then add the client-type setting to run beta work units, and that is not a violation.

And with the new open to read beta team section of the forum, I can also post a link to a post in the beta section that describes how to get beta work units.
