Welcome to FAH, neumannk.
There have been several people who have reported similar problems. I've never had the problem, myself but the other people said it started working after we asked a few questions, so I'll ask a few questions and maybe we'll get lucky.
Do you have Windows, Linux, or OS-X?
In the upper right corner, if it says Novice change it to Advanced. Then in the left "Clients" panel what does it say?
Temporarily disable your security software. (You can temporarily unplug your network at the same time, if you're concerned about security.)
When you installed the client, did you choose "just for me" or "for everybody"?
In the Preferences panel, is there a checkmark in the local client section for Autostart?
