f@h journal papers
Hi everyone
I'm writing an assignment on bioinformatics and I've decided to dedicate a large chunk of it to f@h as an example of a company developing a bioinformatic tool that can assist in drug development etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could find relevant information, particularly from scientific journals. Anything will be fine, whether it's about f@h as a whole or any discovery where f@h has played a significant role.
Cheers

The Wikipedia article on Folding@home uses 192 citations, which include 66 scientific journals and two books. Iceman1992 provided the page of all the papers, and if you find an abstract/summary that looks intriguing, you might consider checking the Wikipedia article for that citation. I was on a university network for the last couple of semesters and had access to all those journals, so I was able to include some of their key points in the article's text. There are multiple examples of F@h making discoveries or making some good progress in the field, so it might be helpful to you. Just my thoughts.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Now that you mention it, I've taken a look a the wiki page and while it's informative I do get a bit lost in all the info, like you said 196 references. I guess what I'd like to know is if there's any big landmark discoveries that really drove progress, articles like are like "WOW! yeah look what we did with folding@home".

Well I'd say the amount of scientific papers published is already very significant. Check out the FAH blog folding.typepad.com. Some "landmark discoveries" are posted theretronhound wrote:I guess what I'd like to know is if there's any big landmark discoveries that really drove progress, articles like are like "WOW! yeah look what we did with folding@home".

Sorry. The information you are looking for is almost entirely within the Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, Cancer, Osteogenesis imperfecta, Viruses, and Drug design sections. Scan through the text looking for statements that talk about discoveries. There are numerous examples. 7im has provided prominent one, here is another: http://medicalxpress.com/news/2012-03-s ... fects.htmltronhound wrote:Now that you mention it, I've taken a look a the wiki page and while it's informative I do get a bit lost in all the info, like you said 196 references.
