It's quite appalling that when you need information - like what flags are currently in use by the folding client, you can't find it all in one place. The V7 client installation page shows " TBD " as the list of slot adjustments that can be used.
Really, "TBD"?
Recently we had the Chimp Challenge folding race, and I found out that there was an entirely new (to me and most other teams) flag for the folding client! What kind of nonsense is this? Is it asking too much to have an updated posting with the current flags for the clients?
I don't have time for this kind of nonsense, and this is no way to run a science project, imo. It's incredibly maddening to find out that there are semi-secret flags for the folding client, like -bigbeta.
I've supported PG in 99% of their decisions, but this "let's play semi-secret flag games with the volunteers", has got to stop.
Why not get the information together, post it in a FAQ area, and keep it updated? And don't play games with the volunteers.

Re: Get It Together
I'll agree that the flags and related information should be better organized and more noticeable. I believe PantherX is one of the volunteers who works on that page, and I think there are a few others as well. Some of the flags can significantly impact the client. The one you mentioned, and there are a couple others like it, should only be used by members of the Beta Team, so it would be inappropriate if a newbie applied it without fully understanding what it did. Most of the flags are less dangerous and should be more easily accessible. So I'll agree that the flag info is a bit scattered. I found this thread viewtopic.php?f=67&t=18187 which lists them, but most, but not all, of that information should be organized on the website.

Re: Get It Together
I searched the V7 WIKI for "TBD" and didn't find anything. Also I'm not aware of any "secret" flags in V7.
In other words, you're complaining without giving any information that would allow someone to add the documentation so unless you add some specific information, you're complaint will just be ignored.
How about finding a way to give someone enough information to allow problems like this to be fixed?
In V6, the beta forum was closed except to those who volunteered to help with beta testing and it did use semi-secret flags, but it has always been very easy to volunteer to help beta test, giving you access to all that information. About a year ago, that was changed opening the beta forum for anyone to read, so even that complaint is null and void.

Re: Get It Together
ALL of the flags have been posted and available on the V7 wiki page since the client was open for beta testing. And the install guide for windows links directly to that page.
And anyone with enough fah experience to be running bigbeta should also have read that documentation long ago.

Re: Get It Together
I've been unable to find where it says "TBD". Like Bruce said, please help us identify the exact issue so that someone can fix it. 7im pointed out that the Windows Installation Guide link to pages like https://fah-web.stanford.edu/projects/F ... ncesV6ToV7 which lists all the flags. The information is there. I remember that it once said that the list was a work-in-progress, but since I've been unable to find that notification I believe it's been fixed. I'm still a fan of more organization.
