Project 7600 (22,14,30) - Bad WU -- VERY slow TPF

Post by BuddhaChu »

I've read the other threads on this project and I'm reporting this one as "bad" so it can be removed. I'm showing a TPF of 2h35m on a Core i7...very slow.

Before reporting something for a bad TPF the very first thing you need to check is the task manager. What other processes are running (don't forget to make sure that the show processes for all users is checkmarked)? If you are running SMP then is there another non-folding process that is using up an entire core (or a large portion of it)? If so, then a drastic folding slowdown will occur and it is not linear.

Since you have a mobile GPU, I'm assuming that this is a notebook. Notebooks have power-saving features. Check to see if it isn't going into some power-saving mode (like clocking down drastically when the lid is closed) that is killing your performance. Check to see if you are running a screen-saver that is sucking down CPU cycles. There are Lots of possibilities that could cause this that are external to the individual WU.

Thanks for taking the time to type all that out, but this machine runs fine with other 7600 WUs.

Ths particular WU has an interesting history. It has been returned several times (not by BuddhaChu) sometimes successfully and sometimes not. I have no information about the speed of the processors, so I can't really compare the speed on your i7 with any of the others, but I can report the total time everybody took and you can make whatever you can about assumed folding hardware and their TPFs.

We don't see records for WUs like yours that presumably expired but presumably it was reissued.
