Protein demo?

Post by iceman1992 »

Hi I am using the new v7 client, running SMP now. When I open the viewer, I see that the protein name is "Demo", does this mean it's not a real protein or something? Sorry if my question is foolish.

Welcome to foldingforum.org, iceman1992.

It's a real protein, just not the one you're actually folding.

Various projects are processed using different FahCore_xx. Some of them write the coordinate data that the viewer uses in one format and others write it in a different format. Unfortunately the viewer currently understands on one of them. See the enhancement requests https://fah-web.stanford.edu/projects/F ... ticket/409

Ah okay. I was hoping to see the protein I'm folding. It's not important though. Thanks for the reply!

Of course it's important, just not the MOST important. That's the whole purpose of the viewer ... to impress your friends and convince them to join FAH ... but if the list is prioritized by importance, there are still a lot of things ahead of it.
