Stats not even close to PPD/Credit

This is my first post, so hopefully this is the right area to post this question.

I installed the v7 client on a server that's been running for a few days now. The server has a 16 core SMP slot configured. The only thing that isn't at default is the -forceasm flag that was recommended in the install guide. The server is folding projects that show a credit of 12,000 to 13,000 (depending on the project) and finishing them in around 12 hours. The client shows I should be getting around 25,000 PPD, but I'm only getting around 1,600 PPD.

Any ideas where to start looking for the issue? Is there some other way I should configure this server for maximum points? Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply! I did setup a passkey, but a couple of days after I started folding. I only just learned that the passkey may be the issue. I'm pretty sure I haven't completed 10 WUs with it. I'm trying to find a way to check that now.

So without a passkey that's completed 10 WUs, I only get the base points for the SMP WU's, right? If that's the case, that explains why I'm seeing small points. I'm guessing the FAHControl is reporting PPD based on the verified passkey. The server has 2 Intel Xeon E5520 processors at 2.27Ghz. Is around 25,000 PPD a good estimate for that or should it be higher? I'm just not sure I have this thing configured for maximum points. Should I switch to Bigadv after I've completed 10 SMP WUs?

Sounds about right.

Yes, you can add the -bigadv setting, but that only requests big work units. It is not a guarantee the client will always get them from the servers.

FYI

If you do use -bigadv there's a chance you'll miss the preferred deadline for a 6904. I have a similar setup with dual 5540 @ 2.54Ghz and it makes the preferred deadline on a 6904 with 14 hours to spare but your cpus are 270Mhz slower so I'm not sure you'll make it. I've already switched mine over to regular SMP in anticipation of lower deadlines and 16 real core minimums.

You can always try but don't be surprised if you don't get a bonus on bigadv 6904, whereas you'll certainly get a bonus for the regular ones after successfully completing 10.

Depending on which WU's you are getting, 25,000 PPD sounds about right. There is some variance in how many points different projects will result in, especially after the bonus calculation. They try to keep it within a plus or minus 10% range, but there are outliers.

Last Fall they announced changes in the bigadv program that they are in the process of implementing now. There are still some WU's available under the old requirements for now. What is available now will depend on whether you are running Windows or Linux on your server. From early reports of those who have processed some of the new units with the requirements of 16 actual cores and tightened deadlines, your E5520's may not be fast enough to complete them within the preferred deadlines and receive QRB. So watch for further information on the changes. If they end up with your server too slow for bigadv after the changes are fully implemented, it will still be able to contribute to the science doing many normal SMP units.

That recommendation is incorrect. It's ignored by the FahCores for SMP. Which install guide told you you needed to add that flag?
